Community Engagement

Resident Advisory Committee (RAC)

The Bailey Park Resident Advisory Committee (RAC) is a community-led initiative that amplifies the voices of McDougall-Hunt residents in shaping a stronger, more connected, and resilient neighborhood. Originally formed through a partnership between the Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation (BPNDC) and Detroit Future City to address climate resilience, the RAC has grown to encompass a broader range of community concerns and priorities.

In addition to environmental challenges like flooding, extreme heat, and air quality, the RAC now works collaboratively to address housing stability, public safety, vacant land use, infrastructure improvements, and overall neighborhood well-being. The committee leads and supports projects such as rain gardens, permeable pavements, energy-efficient home improvements, and blight reduction—while also elevating issues such as access to resources, community education, and intergenerational engagement.

By collaborating with residents, local organizations, and city agencies, the RAC ensures that community priorities are heard and reflected in planning, policy, and programming. Through this inclusive and action-oriented approach, the RAC strengthens neighborhood cohesion and helps build a healthier, more sustainable future for McDougall-Hunt and beyond.
