Bailey Park Connections: Food, Care & Check-Ins
Bailey Park Connections: Food, Care & Check-Ins is a comprehensive, compassion-driven initiative by the Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation (BPNDC) that addresses food insecurity, social isolation, and health disparities across Detroit—particularly in the McDougall-Hunt neighborhood. This collective effort brings together essential services designed to nourish the body, uplift the spirit, and promote community well-being through regular outreach and support.
Key Components
- Hot Plate for Seniors: A meal delivery and companionship program that supports senior and homebound residents by providing warm, nutritious meals along with meaningful social interaction. This program helps elders age with dignity, reduce isolation, and stay connected to their community.
- Food Box Delivery: This monthly program delivers fresh produce and shelf-stable groceries to over 100 residents, many of whom face transportation challenges. It ensures consistent access to healthy food for households in need.
- Health Access at The Hub: Through partnerships with providers like the Wayne Health Mobile Unit, this initiative brings critical health services directly to the community at Bailey Park’s Resilience Hub (“The Hub”). Services include health screenings, vaccinations, and telehealth access—removing barriers to care and supporting long-term health equity.
- Bailey Park Community Feed: A citywide mobile outreach effort in collaboration with COMSA and other partners, this program delivers hot meals, hygiene supplies, and clothing to individuals and families experiencing hardship, including Detroit’s unhoused population. More than food assistance, it promotes dignity, connection, and hope by meeting people where they are.
Together, these interconnected programs reflect BPNDC’s commitment to building a healthier, more resilient Detroit—where every resident is seen, supported, and cared for.
