Bailey Park Gives: Monthly Meal Boxes

As the cost of everything rises no one should have to choose between food and shelter or bills. Bailey Park NDC wants to help fight hunger in Detroit. We will be giving out food boxes along with recipes for the ingredients. You can sign up for up to three months at a time. Simply fill out the form to the right.  Distributions will be on the second Saturday of the month following the McDougall-Hunt Community meeting. The January food distribution will be Saturday, January 14.

Resident Resources Work Group

The Residential Resources Workgroup is about connecting residents with the programs and resources to be safe and secure in their homes. As much as possible we will work with people to streamline the applications and documents they need to qualify and apply for programs that will maintain or improve the safety of their home. 

The workgroup meets on the 2nd Friday of month at 10 am via Zoom. If you would like to join please email committee chair, Duane Ashford or fill out the form below.

If you need assistance to complete the HOPE application, the City and nonprofit partners are hosting 7 Drive-Thru HOPE Events. Please click the link below to schedule an appointment. If you are unable to schedule online, or need an over the phone appointment, please the Wayne Metro Connect Center at (313) 388-9799 for HOPE assistance. Masks are mandatory and residents will stay in their vehicle during the event.

Who qualifies? This program is limited to applicants who meet the following criteria: Homeowner is a senior (62+) or homeowner is disabled. HOPE Application Approval in 2021 (Owners approved in 2019 and 2020 are automatically approved in 2021) Home has not received a 10,000 grant from the City of Detroit in the last 10 years.

Rental and Mortgage Assistance

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) will administer the COVID Emergency Rental Assistance (CERA) Program through its network of local nonprofit agencies starting March 15, 2021. CERA can provide rental and utility assistance for eligible renter households so that they retain their housing stability.
